Sermon Recap

Jon Parker | October 10, 2021 | Galatians 4

Are you Seaworthy or Shipwrecked?

Slave: Before starting a relationship with Christ, we have potential like an under-age child to become an heir and child of Christ. We are slaves to sin and have no access to heaven and the earthly promises of God.

Heir: So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.

Inmate: The Galatians have come to faith in Christ it seems. However, they were in bondage like a prisoner or inmate to satan.

Prodigal: A prodigal is wasteful. Have we wasted something God has given to us? Our job, a relationship, a ministry, an opportunity?

Each one of these steps will keep us from being a slave, inmate, or prodigal and maintain our relationship as God’s child and heir.

  1. WIND: What direction is God leading you in? Is He telling you to keep going in the same direction? Or maybe He wants you to change direction. That may require steps of faith that require us to trust Him more. God may be calling you to something different.
  2. DIRECTION: Are you going in the wrong direction? Are there sins, relationships, activities you’re involved with that are leading you away from Christ. Maybe today you turn away from that sin and back to Him.
  3. STEER: Who’s steering your life? Is it another person, your job, or even you? The only one qualified to steer your life is Christ.
  4. SLOW: Maybe you’re going in the right direction and God is steering you but you’re going too fast. Are you taking time on a regular basis to slow down and listen to Christ?
  5. STOP: Know how to stop the sailboat

Greetings FreeWay Church Family,

Our outdoor services at Patrick Square have provided a unique place to hold our Sunday worship services as we navigated the challenges derived from the pandemic. We are grateful to all of you that have withstood the frequent schedule and climate changes during this difficult time. As soaring temperatures are now upon us, after prayerful consideration, we have decided to return to indoor worship in the fellowship hall of Clemson Presbyterian Church beginning this Sunday, July 11, 2021.

While the move provides some obvious benefits, there will be some changes that are necessary as we share space with another congregation. Initially, the primary change is that we will have to move the service start time to 11:15AM as that is the earliest we can access the space and set up all the audio visual equipment.

Additionally, we will continue to utilize basic COVID protocols during the service for the health and safety of the entire FreeWay church family. Please make every effort to adhere to these guidelines:

· If you are feeling sick, please stay home

· If you are not vaccinated, please wear a face covering

· Those that are vaccinated are free to continue wearing face coverings

· Limit social interactions, such as close distances and hugging

· Sanitizer stations and extra masks will be available at each service

We will continue to stream service through Facebook Live and recordings will be posted to the FreeWay website and podcast. Please be patient as we are trying to get those posts caught up and available within a couple of days of Sunday’s service.

I know this is another time of transition for our church. I am so proud of how we have not allowed these changes to affect our service and outpouring of love for one another. This should be the last time we have to change service locations as we are expecting to begin renovations on our permanent church home in Central within the month.

We will continue our work toward the realization of our vision, understanding that true freedom in Christ begins with service. I am eager to see how God continues to bless His people.

Now Faith,

Pastor Jeff Davis

FreeWay Benevolence Fund

People throughout our country, local communities, neighborhoods and within our FreeWay family are experiencing unexpected financial challenges. Our church is called by God to help those who are in need—especially those within our family of faith. We are called to celebrate the victories in one another’s lives, but also share in each other’s burdens and hardships.

We have created the FreeWay Benevolence Fund as a way for us to provide assistance to members of our FreeWay Family who are experiencing unexpected challenges, as well as provide a helping hand to those in our communities who are experiencing hardship.

If you would like to give to the FreeWay Benevolence Fund you can do so through our website by clicking on the “Give” button in the top right corner of our webpage. Any money given to the “Outreach” category on the giving page will go into the FreeWay Benevolence Fund.

If you are experiencing challenges and need assistance, please email the church at admin@freewaychurch.cc.
